Archery Deer & Spring Gun Turkey INFO

Whitetail Deer Bowhunts

Arrowhead Ridge, near Greenfield IL, is approaching 20 years of providing large acreage, quality, free-range archery hunts for some of the biggest bodied, largest antlered white tailed deer in the North American continent.

Deer Bow Season & Fees

Illinois' bow season starts October 1 and extends to the end of the 2nd week of January, normally.  Our rut gets pretty hot around last week of October and through mid December, but hunts after Christmas are also rewarding, as the amount of food that we still have, vs our neighboring farms, produces lots of feeding shot opportunities, as the weather gets colder.

Our hunts are a full six days, with 7 nights lodging and time allowed for you to comfortably get here, unload and rest, then get to it the next morning.  All bedding, meals & vehicle access to your stand location are included.  2024 hunts are as follows:

November 2-9  $3000 -  SOLD OUT

November 9-16  $3000 -  SOLD OUT

November 16-23  $3000 -  3 left as of 7-3-23

Turkey Season & Fees

Unless you are a landowner and acquire landowner permits, all Spring Turkey Hunters, including out-of-state AND residents must apply in the lottery periods, or take a chance that there are remaining over-the-counter or online permits available, after the lotteries.  Don't take that chance.

As you see in the link, above, our hunt "seasons" are made up of five, consecutive seasons, anywhere from 5 to 8 days long, each.   Your permit allows you hunt the entire 5-to-8-day season, that you apply for.   However, our hunt packages reflect the success rate and history of those who have hunted turkey on this property,  meaning...  about 75% of hunters have tagged out within the first two mornings of hunting.  Therefore, we offer a two-day minimum package for $600, but give you the option to extend your hunt, at $300 for each of the remaining  days  that your permit entitles you to.   All hunts end at 1pm each day.    All bedding, meals & vehicle access to your stand location are included.  2022 hunts are as follows:

Access and Type of Hunt

We have miles of trails throughout our farm....some were logging trails made during oak barrel stave harvesting in the 50s, which we have maintained.  Some are more recent, made by our family.  ATVs, including side-by-sides, four wheelers and 4x4s are welcome.  Electric golf-carts are able to be used on our trails,  and we have onsite electricity and cart bays, for charging.

Hunting from elevated hang-on stands, ladder stands, climbers and ground blinds are all effective methods for our great whitetail bucks, and ground blinds or simply doing your best camo and disappearing into the timber, are your best turkey methods.

Acreage and Kind of Land You'll Hunt

Arrowhead Ridge consists of 1000 acres of prime, Greene County, Illinois timber and farm ground.  About 700 acres are stands of primarily white oak and hardwood trees, mixed with tons of browse greenery at the lower, ground level.  We have two primary creeks throughout the property and 9 man-made ponds.   The remaining acreage is either farmed or in CRP.
